Lord Jesus, so often worry is involved in a large part of my conscious thoughts. Sometimes I even awaken from a deep sleep and discover I have an anxious and worried feeling.

I come now to You seeking to be free from worry. I do not ask to be free from responsibility nor from the normal experiences of life. I just want to be delivered from worrying about so many things so much of the time.

Prayer 1
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. (I Peter 5:7)

It is a comfort to me to know You have extended an invitation for me to cast all of my cares upon You. You are the only One Who has ever invited me to do that. Oh, yes, I have some friends who are willing to share some of my worries. I have some who are willing to listen part of the time to part of my concerns. But, Jesus, You are the only One Who has asked, yea begged, for me to let You take care of all of them. It is helping already as in this prayer I am reminded You are willing to assume all my cares because You care for me. You have no ulterior motive. You are not scheming to get something from me which will enrich Your life or improve Your status. The bottom line for You is that You really care. You care because I need cared for at all times and in all ways. Jesus, knowing this revealed truth helps settle my anxious heart and to quiet my worried mind.

Prayer 2
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. (Isaiah 26:3)

I thank You, Lord, that I can keep my mind upon You at all times. You are a worthy companion in every circumstance and experience of my life. Thank You for the peace which is within me and engulfs me when I deliberately and intentionally seek to put my mind upon You. Thank You for the reality of life that I can confront any problem and face any situation more effectively when I have You central in my thoughts. How strange to me that thinking of You does not distract from what I must accomplish, but instead enhances my ability and increases my chances of success. I do put my trust in You, Lord. I thank You for Your perfect peace as I do this. It is miraculous what happens even as I pray this prayer. You truly speak to me afresh and assure me of Your peace, as I wait before you.

Prayer 3
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? (Matthew 6:25)

Thank You, Lord, for helping me to leave my tomorrows in Your hands. There have been too many days in the past where I have worried about eating, about clothing, about health, about wealth. I have worried too much about what others have said about me and at times what I have said about others. Sleepless nights and fretful moments have never really helped. All the energy I have wasted on worry has really taken its toll on my wholeness of body, mind and spirit. I truly ask Your forgiveness for those past days of worry. How I wish I could wipe them out of my life completely. I know You have forgiven my days of worry, but I still suffer some of the consequences of my fretting and stewing over spilt milk or future events. Thank You for alerting me to the reality that life is more than meat and drink and fine clothing. I simply don't have to worry about these things. Thank You for permitting me to plan wisely for the future without worrying and fretting. You do desire to meet my needs and You can fulfill my desires. Thank You that I can believe this truth today.

Prayer 4
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)

Father, I thank You for letting me know I can keep my heart and mind stayed on You. You have told me to seek Your Kingdom first and all the other things will be added unto me. I thank You I can put Your Kingdom before clothing, sports, job, friends, even health. But as I do, Father, You have assured me I shall have all of these things. You are not out to rob me, but to bless me. You desire to bestow blessings upon me and not to deprive me of the joys and triumphs of love and life. I praise You for the promise that I shall have ALL things added unto my life. You have not ordained that I be a pauper in spirit, in friends, or in possessions. Your promises are sure and steadfast and Your will is for my wellbeing. Father, may these truths remove from my life the fretting and worry which is so often present. Help me to see beyond myself and my circumstances and to see You and Your desires for me.

Prayer 5
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. (Psalm 91:1,2)

It is such a comfort to me to know You have a secret place for me. It is not known by the world and never can be. I must admit that my worries pale in the shadows when I seek to intentionally meditate upon abiding under the Shadow of You, the Almighty One. Your shadow protects me more than a teflon coating. There is nothing that can permeate Your shadow. This comfort is my hope and stay. I put my trust in You, Father. You are my refuge and my fortress. I flee to You for Your protection. You grant it and I rest assured of Your care and comfort. Your fortress is impregnable. It is not made by hands, but by You. It is to Your stronghold I flee and it is in confidence I walk Your streets of security.

Prayer 6
But my God shall apply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

Father, my adversary, the devil, often tricks me into worrying, because of apparent needs of mine which are not being met. This is an area he uses often and on occasion very effectively. He sometimes sounds so convincing I am almost persuaded that worry will help my situation. Forgive me, Father, for such foolish and warped thinking and reasoning. I thank You for Your Word that You will supply my every need. Thank You, Father, that Your resources are not limited. They are not even limited solely to this world. Heaven itself can open with help for me. The riches there far exceed what we have here. This is a source of calmness for me. Thank You for letting this truth be so much a part of my mind and heart that worry has no place to dwell within me.

Prayer 7
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

Lord Jesus, my heart is no longer afraid. My life is no longer troubled. I know You care. I know You can supply all of my needs. I know that in this life and in the next I am with You. Nothing, absolutely nothing, shall be able to separate me from You or You from me. Thank You, Jesus, for helping me to see worry and fretting are strange bed fellows for one who believes in You. I thank You I can put my confidence and trust in You and in Your love for me. I praise Your Name that I can believe You. Your Word is as good, yea, even better than gold. I accept and appropriate Your peace, Lord Jesus. It is a most blessed replacement for worry. The world can never give me what I have received from You. Thank You, thank You! Surely I face many things today and in the days ahead. I have the problems and circumstances of making a living, dealing with stress at work, facing friends who don't understand, coping with illness, meeting all my financial obligations, wondering about rumored layoffs, and a multitude of other concerns. But, Father, I am not worried. My hope is in You. Thank You that my past days of worry are forgiven. Thank you, Lord, that my future days will have peace and purpose because of what you have done for me. My confidence is in You, my Lord. Praise Your Name forever and ever. I thank You for victory over worry through Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
