The primary resource for Warren’s teaching the Biblical view of money is Crown Financial Ministries started by Howard Dayton and the late Larry Burkett. They have done much to bring biblical principles into the personal financial arena.  The Total Living Center has been instrumental in bringing Crown Ministries to Stark County in 2001. Since then hundreds of people have taken the course. It has been introduced to several churches that have adopted the study program for their particular ministry.

 A key component of Crown Financial Ministries is the Crown Small Group Bible Study. This is a ten-week course with classes meeting weekly and follow-up assignments done at home. In this study we learn there are 2,350 verses in the bible dealing with money, about 5 times more than any other subject including love. Also, 16 of the 38 Parables (about 45%) taught by Jesus are about money. They deal with the importance of a proper perspective and management of it.

The measure of success for any ministry is the positive results issuing from it. A survey reveals that within three years after taking the course, the average couple\single reduced personal debt from approximately $15,000 to $9,600.00, a decrease of 38%. Those reporting no personal debt was 33%, up from 17% prior to completing the class. Savings and investments rose on the average 58%.

Consider these facts. First, money is the number one reason for broken marriages and strained spiritual relationships. Second, how can this problem be helped? It can be helped with sound financial teaching and practice. Surveys have revealed that 78% of those taking the Crown Ministries Small Group Bible course had an improved relationship with their spouse, and 57% have a deeper walk with Christ.

The principles laid out in the Bible apply whether you have $10.00 or $10,000.00. God is not much interested in what you would do if you won the lottery or got a big inheritance. He is interested in what you are going to do with the $5.00 or $10.00 you have in your wallet. The church often tells us what to do with 10% of our money. It needs to be stressed that the Bible not only talks about the tithe (10%), but very candidly what to do with the other 90%.
