Prayer 1
As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things. (II Corinthians 6:10)

Father, there are times when my joy is taken away and I become very depressed. Sorrow comes over my spirit and I am not satisfied with any thing or any one. This dejection of spirit, Father, affects my body, my emotions, my mind, and even my will to face life. I come to You to receive Your joy. I need to be reminded through Your Word of the future blessings for those who love You. I want also to be encouraged with the assurance of Your Presence and joy in my life just now. Depression leaves me defeated. I seek the joy of Your victory. Your Word so plainly tells me that in the midst of riches or poverty, in health or sickness, in much or little, I can know Your joy. I truly rebuke and reject this spirit of depression and want to again realize I possess all things beautiful in You.

Prayer 2
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. (Isaiah 61:10)

Thank You, Father, that I can greatly rejoice in You. My mind and emotions can be uplifted. You have clothed me with the garments of salvation. I am not going to wear the rags Satan has sought to present as garments of beauty. They will become as tattered fragments of soiled clothing. I know this, Father, but depression sometimes leads me to believe the lie and to deny the truth. It helps me when I am depressed to consider Your robes of royalty and righteousness. I stand amazed that you want me to wear them too.

Prayer 3
Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. (Luke 10:20)

It truly makes me feel good when I consider the power You have invested in me and in other believers. Satan himself and all of his helpers are subject to us through the Name of the Lord Jesus. Yet, with all that I have in this life, I am really helped and delivered from depressing moments when I consider that my name is written down in heaven. There is no substance of humanity capable of erasing my name. There is no power able to delete it. It is an eternal bonus for me. I give You thanks, Father, and my spirit is lifted.

Prayer 4
I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. (Luke 15:7)

It thrills me to know that all of heaven rejoiced when I turned to You. Their rejoicing has not diminished. You have a special blessing for Your adopted children and I am glad to be a part of Your family. There may be some who feel they need not repent and turn to You. But, Father, I know I need You. My burdens would be intolerable without You and my life too depressing. Thank You for forgiving my sins. Thank You that if I should sin now, I need only turn to You and be forgiven and restored into fellowship. This leads me to rejoice.

Prayer 5
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. (Ephesians 5:19)

Thank You, Father, for the tangible steps You have provided to help in my depressed moods. You have told me to search out truths from the ancient psalms. You have informed me that singing is good for my moods. The hymns and songs of the Spirit do something for me that no one or nothing else can do. I have discovered that in the midst of depression if I seek to make melody in my heart unto You it makes a difference. Even when depressed a deliberate time of song lifts me.

Prayer 6
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. (Colossians 3:16)

It does my heart good to be around other believers who can minister to me in song. I receive so much from the truths revealed through the joyful singing of my fellow brothers and sisters.

Prayer 7
Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
(James 5:13)

Thank You for admonishing me to pray when I am dejected. This is an affliction which cannot be easily shaken, but in prayer can be overcome. Then when Your joy returns I begin to rejoice and to sing psalms , hymns, and choruses of praise. Hallelujah. May Your Name be praised forever.

Prayer 8
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. (John 15:11)

All the truths You revealed through Your Son have made such a difference in my life. I didn't know what to do with my depression in years gone by, but now have discovered Your way. Your joy is not a passing fancy for me, Father. It has come and it remains. It is full and it is refreshing. Depression cannot triumph over truth. It cannot remain in the presence of the riches of Your revelations. I am so grateful for the Words Your Son spoke to His disciples which are also for me today. They encompass eternal truth and shall never be obsolete. This gives me hope and grants me victory over depressing moments.

Prayers 9
Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength. (Nehemiah 8:10)

I cannot thank You enough, Father, for the message of Your Word that Your joy is my strength. I have discovered this to be true. Your joy is my strength regardless of what I have to face or do. It surpasses all other things recommended by the world and advocated by the teachings and lifestyle of ungodly people. I humbly give thanks for Your joy. Father, depression is defeated in and through You. Praise Your Name forever and ever. I come in the triumphant Name of Jesus Christ and the joys of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
